Can boosted miles be used to book flights with partner airlines?

Virgin just announced up to 40% bonus on boosted miles until March 8th 2020 but is also includes this statement:

"Is there anything else I need to know? Miles Booster can only be used on Virgin Atlantic flights on either a one-way or a return ticket."

I purchased boosted mile in the last 40% bonus special and do not recall this limitation. Searching around I found a post from 2018 about a boosted mile bonus that states:

"By racking up your miles, you can get closer to great rewards with Virgin Atlantic and our partners. "

Does anyone have experience with booking tickets with partner airlines using boosted miles?

That's just referring to the flights you can boost miles on; they have to be booked and operated by Virgin Atlantic.

Once you have the miles, they are no different to any other miles earned via any other method. So you can use them just the same on anything you'd like to.
