Learned to day, apologies if I have missed any previous posts.
VS Cards no longer give full miles for spend. I have been trying to build miles using my + card and last month spent 13K, however technically my limit is only 9K. During the month I made payments to keep within the limit, however today I learned that I can only receive 13.5K miles which is 9 * 1.5. Speaking to CS was informed that a change from on high had restricted the points limit and there was nothing they could do. Increased my limit to 11K yippee, so I don't have to count so hard in the future.
My fault assumed points were determined by spend and not limit, like the good old days with MBNA, but hey.
Will be reviewing if change back over to Amex when the card fee is due.

This changed a few weeks / months ago, I remember an email about it. I had used this technique a few times in the past, so maybe that mail was only sent to a target selection. We also increased our credit limits with no problems.

I got this by email on 12/12

We are writing to advise you of a change we are making to the Virgin Atlantic Reward and Reward+ Credit Card Terms and Conditions, however this change will not apply to your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card. The change is shown below and will apply from the 7th of January 2020 to affected customers only.

The miles you can earn each month will be capped based on spending an equivalent of your credit limit each month. For example, if your credit limit is £5,000 the first £5,000 of spending in the statement cycle will be eligible for miles. If you make multiple payments and spend more than £5,000 in the month, the spending eligible for miles will be capped at £5,000.

I don't remember receiving this email. Does it mean the restriction is only applied to people who have spent over their credit limit in a month? (I haven't as my credit limit is a lot more than I would ever want to put on a card in a month!)

Yes, that is exactly what it means. Last year I made a couple of large purchases where I part paid up to the credit limit, made a one off payment, and then paid more in the same month. That way I got twice as many miles in each month. Obviously the few people who did this was costing them too many miles!

Only people being impacted by this change are receiving the emails and yes, you can now only earn miles for monthly spend up to your credit limit each month.

Nothing to still stop you paying off your balance and then to spend more each month but you will not earn miles on any extra spend over and above your credit limit.
