A couple of travel blogs are reporting this and apparently emails are going out to credit card holders about this promo.

Pay for a VS flight or Virgin Holiday package using your VS credit card between now and October 31st and you will earn double the normal card earning mileage for the booking.

The standard card will earn 3 miles per £1 spent and the Reward+ cards earns 6 miles per £1 spent during the promo.

Anyone with a Reward+ card spending >£500 will also earn a complimentary VS upgrade voucher which is valid for 24 months.

Details can be found here

I got that email. Other than the issue of having funds tied up, it seems to me you're better off to claim refunds on cancelled flights and rebook rather than keep an open ticket. Am I missing something?

Does anyone know if this is a targeted offer?

No email received here so i'm currently holding back on a quite large Virgin Holidays booking.

Now thinking i just may not get this offer at all...

I've just called Virgin Money and they confirmed that even though I have not received an email, I do have this offer on my account. I assume it will be the same for most others.

Hubby has been notified on his account not on mine.

Just had our October flight to Vegas cancelled by BA, just had to hold for 10 mins kept hitting redial got through to a South African call centre in Cape Town very nice chap all processed and email already in my account with refund details.

Will call to rebook in a couple of weeks for this time next year hoping we will be able to go on that one, not holding much hope for our Easter trip now, have run out of all my toiletries from several amenity bags I had collected, will have to buy some now. Hope everyone stays safe and we will get travelling again soon. Linda

I'm going to stick with yes as you've spent £500+ with VS.

The only bit that isn't "clear" in my opinion is if you call them to book. I would have thought it would still trigger but the wording isn't great on that.

Wording from email is:
If you spend more than £500 between 14 September 2020 and 31 October 2020 with either Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays directly via https://www.virginatlantic.com or https://www.virginholidays.co.uk , you’ll receive an Upgrade Reward voucher ...
