Got a flight tomorrow JFK to LHR, then a separate booking on BA to Berlin.
Might they be able to check my one bag right through at the VS desk in JFK? Saves hassle and stress!
(Flights are Upper/ Biz for both, if that matters)

Thanks!

You can try, however, it's unlikely being on separate bookings.

Don't forget from Jan 5th 2025, the UK now requires an ETA for all travel to/through the UK if you don't have a UK or Irish passport (or if you have an EU passport an ETA will be required from April 2nd 2025). It costs £10.

It's our version of the US ESTA system.

Thanks James, I'll ask at the UC desk.
It can depend on how busy and how experienced they are. Some like the challenge!

A few years back the VS desk agent checked our suitcases right through from JFK>LHR>CDG>COO (Cotonou, West Africa) 3 flights, VS/AF/AF. Delighted to see them appear on the carousel there at the end, tagged as 'Priority'!

(and thanks for heads up - have a UK passport too, but good to know)

When I flew VS/DL the other week on separate bookings, both VS and DL initially pushed back on thru-checking on both sides of the Atlantic but eventually after getting a supervisor involved on both occasions, they finally agreed to do it for me.

The DL checkin agent I got at FLL was unfortunately a complete jobs-worth as he was working the bag drop desk and refused to carry on dealing with me and sent me away after I told him I was flying internationally as apparently he couldn’t scan passports at his work station >-(
