SkyTeam status, collect for Virgin

Hi all,

I’ve seen that FlyingBlue are offering status match with British Airways, which works nicely for me as I have bronze. Unfortunately Virgin won’t match Bronze, only Silver, but the benefits with SkyTeam Elite (priority check in, priority boarding and the free extra bag) are appealing. Does anyone know though if I can still fly to collect my Virgin Points with FlyingClub, but use SkyTeam Elite status for the extras it provides?

I don’t think you’ll be able to do that.
It’s the status associated with airline membership you’ll tag to the booking.
So if you booked via flying blue KLM or AF, and then tag your VF number, to accrue Virgin miles and not flying blue miles, it’ll use your membership level with Virgin and not flying blue

Thanks for the quick response, to clarify I meant the booking would still be via Virgin, it’s just more of a question of if they would allow me to attach the status, but not the points collection, likely once at the airport.

Not possible sorry as your status with the airline (or alliance) is linked to your frequent flyer account. Which ever account you add to the booking is the only one the airline uses to decide on your status and award you miles/points on.

Add your VS Flying Club FF number to the booking and you will earn VS points + tier points but you wont get any status recognition. Add another account number where you may have status and you will get the status recognition but you will only earn points with that particular account.
