Hi
Looking for advice on transferring at LAX, with Luggage that I assume will need to be rechecked.

I’m arriving into LAX on a domestic AA flight Terminal 4 or 5. I will need to collect luggage and make my way to Terminal 2 to check in for the Virgin Flight back to London.

Time is not an issue as I have close to 6 hours.

The question is how do get myself and luggage over to Terminal 2. Is this walkable, I’ve read I can cut through the parking garages (is this safe?).

I will have two cases plus hand luggage so are carts/trollies available?

Or will I have the use the transfer bus, which may be hard work with the luggage.

I see there is a way to walk airside from terminal 4/5 but this doesn’t look to be an option if you have hold luggage.

Are there desk to check my luggage in Terminal 4/5 where I can check my luggage for the Virgin flight (long shot).

Sorry there are so manny questions and thanks in advance for your help.

You can definitely walk from T4/5 arrivals level back to T2 arrivals level and get a lift up to the Virgin check in desks. I would stay on the arrivals level and walk round the horseshoe past TBIT and T3 rather than trying to cut across as you have no time pressure. Do not try to use the bus. Its more hassle that its worth.

You will have to probably pay for a luggage cart at T4/5 unless one is lying around. There are no check in facilities for Virgin flights in T4/5.

Finally, if you are flying in Upper, You can use the Delta One check in (Terminal 3 arrivals level) instead of the Virgin T2 check in. Delta One check in has a private security lounge and direct access to the Delta One lounge (much better than the star alliance lounge in my view).

From T5 arrivals to T2 departures could be 15 minutes. From T4 arrivals to the delta one check in on the T3 arrivals level less than 10 minutes. Also, You should not be subject to the 3 hours prior to departure limit to access the Delta One lounge as you are connecting in LAX.
