Apologies for yet another question, but are there any downsides to setting up a household account? I can't see that there would be any to do this for my family but it feels like there must be something that I'm not seeing?

One thing to be ver wary of with any airline FF household account is having this set-up can potentially increase the risk of fraud / scams as household accounts are an easy avenue fraudsters will try to use to steal miles /points as they pretend to be a family member and then empty your account. You see this mentioned reasonably often on the FT BA forum. Whilst BA do usually re-credit AVIOS once fraud is reported, it does take time and it's a hassle no-one should have to go though.

VS are not helping matters as they have now removed 2 step account login verification - which is a step backwards IMHO!?!

FF accounts are becoming a fraudster's choice now more people are using them for earned /spending and the value of FF points are becoming much more desirable these days.

FF accounts should be treated like any other financial account; using the same level of care and high security.
