Delta Flights using Virgin points

I need to travel to Chicago or Detroit and know that Virgin do not fly there, however Delta do. I would like to use Virgin Atlantic points.

Searching the flights on the Virgin Atlantic website says "sorry we don't fly that day", though Delta do as I can book a cash fare. Is it as simple as Delta have not released any reward flights to Virgin for those days/they are sold?

I was also thinking I could book a Delta domestic route separately using Virgin points, but the booking engine doesn't even show the routes e.g. out BOS as departure and it won't show Chicago as a destination , even though the Virgin website says to use it!

Is it worth pursuing, or is it basically an example of Virgin promising a lot on the website, but it doesn't apply in reality?

You can always call and ask, but normally if no availability then Delta hasn’t released reward space to Virgin.

In your shoes, as VS rewards are dynamic, I’d book VS flights and then keep eye out for domestic US reward seats

I've found some reward flights via AMS on KLM using Virgin points. Could anyone let me know whether the change fee is £70, as it would be on VS flights? I can tell and the fare rules don't help. I'm trying to avoid calling as last time I booked V simple reward flights and it took an hour to process after a long time on hold!

You might need to speak to FC, but I’m sure KLM is just like AF - no changes allowed. Cancel and re book which is £70 per person EU/UK to US, or 100$ US outbound
