Sadly, according to the news, seems some idiot has given some 'spiked' sweets as an alleged 'thank you' to crew on a British Airways flight.....luckily they didn't touch them until after the flight but awful experience that could have had terrible consequences.

"BA cabin crew taken ill after eating sweets offered by flight passenger: Three British Airways crew members were taken to hospital after unknowingly eating the gummies on their Heathrow to Los Angeles flight"

I would say that's the end of any of us offering anything edible as a thank you gift to fantastic crew for their service as they'll have to 'bin it'.

That’s really disappointing, but I can understand why crew might become cautious if even one person abuses a nice gesture. A handwritten thank you card or a compliment sent through the airline’s feedback form feels like the safest way to show appreciation without putting anyone in an awkward position. Hopefully it doesn’t stop genuine kindness, it just changes how people do it.

Yeah I wrote in back in 2018 when I witnessed one of the crew members (FSM I think it was (or hope, as that was what I quoted on the form)) going above and beyond. I didn't expect any more of it until I received a phone call from an agent at VS a few weeks later thanking me for the positive feedback and promising to ensure it is relayed back.

I was genuinely surprised that not only was it picked up on, they took the trouble to contact me acknowledging it. It was a few days before Christmas as well, so I do hope it got back to that crew member and, if still there, is continuing to provide the same 5 star service. I imagine it also makes a nice change receiving praise than complains which I assume is what they’re dealing with more.
