I am looking to trace my first flight to the US.

The departure was from LGW on August 21st 1998 with a 'hotch potch' of an airline. I'll explain that.
A wee while ago there was a scottish airline named British Caledonian Airways (I know you know this already:D) which was purchased by British Airways and for a short while operated as Caledonian Airways.

The flight had a final destination of somewhere in Florida (can't remember where exactly), most probably MCO or SFB although it could have been any other, but the flight had a scheduled stop at Bangor Airforce Base in Maine to clear customs and immigration.

I believe the aircraft was a DC-10, but when I started to look into it I understand that Caledonian operated a number of Tristars also. It definately had a tail mounted engine.

So as to my question, I would like to trace this flight. http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk only goes back to 1990 so cannot get anymore history here.

I also know that the return flight was two weeks later and again I believe this stopped at Bangor (although I cannot remember this so vividly).

So can anyone help me with this, this is one of the final pieces of my US history.

Ok your going to have to give me a few mins on this one...

Just for your records you flew on Caledonian Airways, they were B-Cal from 1970-1987 ...give me a few and i'll figure out what you were on,though I think it would of been a DC10

Is August 21st 1998 the correct date? You say that http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk only goes up to 1990 and therefore if your date is correct there could be some reference on that site.

Sorry Guys, I was a little out. August 21st 1988 (slipped on the keyboard there), and I can confirm this is correct as there is an immigration stamp in my passport.

I was also wrong with the data at lhr-lgw.co.uk which only goes to 1999/2000

Dc 10-30 though at times Tristar 500's were used.

During the 70's and early 80's C-Cal pretty much split into two airlines, charter and scheduled, they were the first charter company to fly wide bodies in to Florida. But by 88 Bcal had been taken over by BA and the airline merged with British Airtours to become Caledonian Airways.

I just emailed a FS9 friend who is a BCal nut,he should know the airport flight times etc, maybe even which aircraft it was.
