Three of us (inluding my 9 year old daughter) will be traveling to London in July. Given that we'll have ten days worth of luggage, what would you recommend for transportation into central London (Mariott County Hall) from Heathrow on a Sunday? It would appear that the London Express would run around 40 GBP for three, a taxi 40-50 GBP and a limo around 165 GBP! What's the best price/performance and least hassle-factor? Thanks in advance!

Black Cab (Taxi). They can fit at least one case in the front, at least 1 in with the 3 of you (They are very roomy) and one in the tiny boot that they have. As long as you don't arrive at very busy times the taxi queing system is very good.

Under no circumstances take a ride from a tout. If you want a cheaper option then pre-book with checker cars of Sunbury/Heathrow (I can dig out the number for you if you want) but this will be a normal saloon car.

Given the Heathrow Express requires a 15 minute walk to the train platform and a cab at the other end, you might be best taking the black taxi into London (journey time would be around the hour on a Sunday morning)

The current tariff is here

A good tip is to check the fare with the cabbie first;)

Have a great time in London

Agree with Buns ... a black cab might seem expensive up front but a) it goes door to door b) for three people you'll have plenty of room c) its easy and convenient and the driver will take you direct with no spin.

HEX is going to be £14 each one way plus walk at T3 (mind you at my pace its about 6 mins) plus taxi (probably £15 plus tip) from Paddington, limo you have the numbers. HEX is fab if you're near Paddington or travelling alone however.

Enjoy your trip, your hotel is almost in the middle of everything.

Thanks to all for your great advice and guidance!! Anyone else have opinions about the London Suttle Service? They meet you inside the terminal after Customs, take us door-to-door for 47GBP in a station-wagon (Estate Car?). Seems a good deal to me.

Steve,
Having someone meet you is a nice luxury. I bow to others' knowledge of this particular service, however. Price sounds excellent, that's for certain.

By the way, I had a bit of a tour of the Marriott County Hall about two weeks ago and found it quite impressive. The building has a lot of history! The location is just about perfect on the South Bank adjacent to a good walking bridge into central London and along an expansive promenade.

Enjoy your trip and don't forget to file a TR.
