just out of interest, has anyone else been getting a hard time from MBNA's security dept?! I've just recently started using my BMI card for all my shopping and it's been fine but I got a text from them today saying I needed to contact them due to suspicious activity. When I called them what did they say was the problem? I spent £10 on ebay!!
Seriously, I'm all for security but this does take the p*ss!
Those of us well versed with MBNA will call this 'normal'
Its good that they are on the ball for strange expenditure but occasionally they get their profiling wrong. Ive had my card deactivated when on a shopping bender in MCO which was a pain, ive also had a call to my mobile when they saw a high spend at Mr J Choo - they just wanted to speak to me to check i had spent the money and that it wasnt fraudulent. Its peace of mind to some and an annoyance to others.
Call them, ask to speak to your account manager and advise them of your usual spending habits. I used to call mine (back in the MC days) whenever i was going on a trip so i wouldnt get the card cut off overseas. They should be able to enter the notes on your file so you do not get quite as many calls.
And as for the payment protection ... a few colourful metaphors ensure they dont call back for that one!

Thanks,
Sarah
