To the US for 5

Last Wednesday the Aer Lingus website threw up a glitch whereby it was offering business class seats at 5 a pop! Although it was early in the morning about 100 people booked but later that day Aer Lingus cancelled the reservations. This led to a huge hue and cry on national radio with many citing the Aer Lingus website which stated 'Availability or price is not guaranteed until you receive a booking confirmation'. As all of these people had received the said confirmation and argued they had a legally binding contract. Today Aer Lingus reversed its decision and has reinstated its passengers for their flights - albeit in economy.

And no, I'm not one of the lucky ones.

There have been lots of cases of simular things happening, for example Argos selling 40 inch Plasma TVs for something like £10.

Most UK retailers now have a clause put into the T+C's which now cover them from this after a few businesses got caught out. In the UK there has been talk of people challenging the T+C's under the Unfair Contract Terms Act, although off the top of my head, I dont think this has happened.

What shocks me is that Aer Lingus didn't have a simular clause in their T+C's. I guess even though they are flying Y they are only flying for Û5, which is pretty good (well it will be until FR start TATL ops [:D]).

Um that will be the same Ryanair that are currently being investigated by the UK authorities for continually breaching UK advertising rules!
