Don't think many others do 32kg as your allowance anyway. 23kg appears to be the standard.

I don't care what the website says, you will absolutely never be charged for a bag weighing over 23kg in Club World/Europe or First on BA, as per BA's policy.

I was trying to compare like with like and as I said in my post I deliberatly excluded any extra allowances that status might give you.
The 'free' BA allowance is still 23kg/bag even if you are in club / first but you get 3 bags - so 69 kg. You can go up to 32 but you have to pay an excess - see on this page here

One other point: if I have to check baggage, I'd much rather _reduce_ the number of bags I have to take thus reducing the chance of losing a bag, and potentially reduce the time I have to spend waiting at the carousel.

Oh bu**er, my family's ten cases @ 32kg each (2 each) were bad enough to lug around. we will all have to find another arm to pull the third one, but at least they will only weigh 23kg each.

Not sinking quite as fast as Virgin Atlantic I'm sure you'll agree. As VS Crew you only have to look at I fly to realise that Virgin made a massive 100 million loss in the first quarter this year and as you're probably bitterly aware, VS are on their second round of compulsory redundancy this year.

I am thinking of renewing my gym membership to do weight training after reading this whole thread!! I have just returned from MCO and I only just about managed with a lot of effort to lift my 22kg bag into the car boot. I have never packed more than that into a case. I feel quite pathetic and will be working to achieve the rippling biceps that is required to be a true v-flyer!

I think its basd that PE pax don't get any extra baggage to Eco Pax
My problem is that i travel LHR-IAD on the old allowance (11th Sept) and back MIA-LHR (2nd oct) on the new allowance, so in effect i am restricted outbound as well. [V]
I emailed VS to ask about this and they have said that the new baggage policy will only apply if the booking is made after the 23rd September, so as long as the booking is made before that date even for travel after it the current baggage allowance applies.
(and yes i will be taking the email with me on holiday !!!!)

That is rubbish, I was hoping to take advantage of the 3 bags of 23kgs on my trip home. Great just 30kgs for me then! [n]
When travelling PE/UC I have often used close to my max baggage allowance and know of many others who do likewise.
With these latest changes, reducing the PE allowance to the same level as Y has taken away one of the incentives PE held for me.
I now see fewer benefits of PE over Y with an exit seat. Whent he prices are close, PE will still win out, but when they are ugely different, Y+ exit seat becomes more appealing.
