After spending 5 hectic days with son and his girlfriend in the unseasonally blistering heat of Orlando I had to return to the even more hectic experience of moving house in 12 days.

I had terrible trouble checking-in on-line the night before - could they have been updating the site perhaps? Whatever, it gave me nightmares thinking the flight may have been over booked and I was to be down-graded! I woke early and tried again - success and I could breath again!

Son dropped me at MCO at 5.45 and after another tearful farewell knowing i shan't see him until June, I made my way to check-in. It was pandemonium there with quite a queue and chaos everywhere it seemed. MCO at it's best. Eventually I was seen and after what seemed a lengthy grilling, was issued with my boarding pass and invitation to the Delta lounge, I was also informed the flight was half an hour late. The queue for security was pretty long and slow and I was so concerned with getting my Netbook out of my bag, I forgot to take out my plastic bag of liquids but nobody seemed to notice. A quick ride on the shuttle to the wrong satellite terminal and back again onto the correct one, I eventually arrived at the lounge.

While the lounge is comfortable, they hardly excel at hospitality do they? A few crackers and pretzels barely filled a hole, especially when the flight was delayed and so no dinner until gone 10pm. A glass of wine was all I needed to make me very sleepy indeed. Eventually we were called to gate 81 and boarding begain with UC only.

This time I was in 8A and was quickly offered champagne and a top up if I wanted - I didn't. Sleep suits were handed out but no basket of extras appeared at all. There were several children in the cabin. But apart from a baby crying at take-off, I must say they must have slept very well as I didn't hear a peep from them all flight. We pushed back at 9.25 and were up by 9.40. For dinner I had the Tomato Bisque but left half of it as it was far too creamy for my taste. I really didn't want anything else, I think because I was so tired, so I converted the seat and went to bed. The FSM was very much in evidence all flight, serving meals and generally working the UC cabin. A very nice guy who took the time to chat to passengers without seeming to stop working. The rest of the crew were all very pleasant and efficient.

I woke about 2 hours from landing and without even being asked, the FSM brought me an OJ and sat on the ottoman to ask me about breakfast. I ate a couple of cubes of melon but didn't want any more and he was quite concerned offering me alternatives, more juice etc. I really feel he is a great asset to VS leading by example and an e-mail will be going to say so.

We landed pretty quickly at 9.20ish and after an endless walk I was through immigration in moments. My bag was going around as I reached the carousel.

Another good VS flight, in no small part due to the FSM. When they get it right, it's a real pleasure to fly. Now 4 months until Hong Kong.

Once again, thank you for the TR. As has been said before a good FSM/crew goes along way to ensuring a good flight...pleasant and efficent are what you want in a customer service environment. [y]

Thanks for another informative TR[y][y]

When Mrs Buns & I return from MCO (which might be a long time coming[:#]) after the always busy check in, we make a beeline([}:)]) to McCoy's in the Hyatt Hotel above the Airport Concourse. It gives us the opportunity to have a full meal before the flight and then make our way via the shortest line to the Satellite.

The now reduced Delta Crown Room whilst basic does provide a haven of peace and quiet from the rest of the airport

Thanks once again

Our last 2 flights back from MCO have been the 50 and 72 which have late departures. Great for filling the last day, but both times we have been past eating at that time.

I'm surprised that VA haven't offered a supper tray on these late flights

Sounds like another good trip home from the sunshine state.
