I know of one angry England rugby fan who is trying to find out if his flight to Paris next Sunday is affected (not me!).

W just said he offered UNITE a 3 week extension, they declined. He also said he doesn’t understand what UNITE are proposing to their members as that offer is now off the table. He said the offer was subject to them not announcing the dates. He then said time to move on.....

B*stards.

MAXIMUM impact for people on holiday - hit two weekends, one after the other.

Unions only have track records of bringing companies down - NOT improving them. BA staff - give yourself an immediate pay-rise and stop paying the unions to damage your own company. There you go - cash in your pocket with immediate effect.

Of course, VS has now zero'd out all G's for the strike duration!

Nice for you Iain!

Reading the page on the VA site (as I am due to be in Seattle). Looks like onboard service will be severely disrupted on the flights that are running, others may run as normal. Not sure I want to fly home Club without the trimmings but its better than being stuck in Seattle.

I can think of worse places to be stranded :)

Looks like no hot food on the flights that are running in the strike period.

Our flight back to BEG is also affected on the 29th so a double whammy for us. I think I sit back and wait and just see how it pans out. One thing for sure WW will not back down.
Hopefully some more comp miles will be forthcoming :)

Sod, that has caused all the flights to SFO on the 22nd March to disappear (I'm not fussy, Y will do) - I may end up flying United, shudder ...

so it can be done.

Maybe the people who negotiated this deal should be tasked with sorting out the main dispute?

It's now being reported that other unions all over the globe are threatening not to unload, refuel or clean BA aircraft during any strike. The Teamsters in the US are offering their "solidarity".

There is no mention in the BBC report of the Teamsters doing anything other than discussing the strike wuith Unite. The teamsters will have members who work at airports where BA fly too and may even have some BA staff as members so are probbaly anxious to find out what is going on.

There is the usual b*ll*cks of someone (who should know better) saying ' I gather ..' without mentioning sources or providing any proof.

In any case BA talked to other airlines so arn't they internationalising the strike too?

It's worrying that Unite are approaching other unions overseas seeking support for the strike. It's a akin to the Post Office unions getting unions overseas to stop handling any UK letter.

They're not allowed to organise secondary pickets or the old 'walk out in sympathy'.

Bit more details of the "allege.." in the The Garudian

Just trying to find a link to the radio report I just heard.

"Sympathy strikes" in the U.S. are illegal too.

Teamsters have their hands full at the moment trying to keep their healthcare benefits - they are not likely to upset Congress with that coming up on Friday!

Disclaimer :

I am a dues paying member of the Teamsters.

With that said, I can't see them walking out on BA, this may be a little headline trying to put pressure on BA, but I just can't seeing it happen.

With that said, I have no inside knowledge.

Now a question.

If the teamsters did walk out, couldn't BA just replace them with one of the many companies that provide ground services ?

Sky news are reporting that the Transport Workers Union in Australia will be checking the volunteers to make sure that they have "proper training and security clearance".

LINK

This does seem to be turning into a cause célèbre for the airline unions. Either way, it'll end in tears for someone.
