Hi,

(apologies if this ramble is a wee bit boring...)

Having not been back to Glasgow for a long time I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing a VA 747 on the tarmac at Glasgow airport on Saturday around lunchtime.

I was returning to Cork and VA check-in was also next door to my Aer Lingus flight - it really made me want "jump ships" as it were and fly off to Florida or wherever it was going.

My view of the aircraft was a little obscured so I'm not sure which plane it was but it just looked great, shimmering in the Scottish sun.

There's just something magnificent about getting that first sight of the Virgin 747. To me it encapsulates everything that is great about air travel.

I don't know what pleasure was more "unexpected" - seeing the Virgin plane or the fact that it was sunny in Glasgow!
:0

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing.

It is nice to see a LGW/MAN 747 described in such glowing terms.

There is no doubt that they are magnificent beasts, even if the inside cleanliness and IFE problems that are so well documented elsewhere on this site seem to dominate discussions about them.

As an aside, despite my years of flying, it never ceases to amaze me that something so big and heavy can leave the ground. :D

I always get to see a VS 744 flying quite low over work (I work just north of Manchester) when it positions to/from MAN for the GLA service.

Always a great sight to see :D

After what I heard about a LGW/MAN plane today there's definitely one you want to steer clear of for quite some time!! ):

Without going into grusome details lets just say a young lady got rather ill a couple of hours before landing back into Manchester. Lots of mess all the way through the front economy cabin and downstairs premium cabin, a ruined upper class toilet, and 6 cabin crew uniforms which probably won't want to be worn again (they also had to wear UC sleep suits for the remainder of the flight!)

The aircraft did have a 'deep clean'. Still, not somewhere I'd like to sit now knowing this information ;)

Ewwwwww nice! Bet that was a lovely final 2 hours of a flight! Was it XLG? She looks like to have been out of action for a little while!

I am on VS75 next Wednesday, and have booked seats 61 H&K.

If you are down for that flight come and say "hello" and you can look after me and my family in cattle class :o) I am assuming your a VS Stewardess! Apologies if not!

I'm not I'm groundstaff! I used to check Virgin in but do Monarch mainly now. Heard it off a friend who was working that day! I'm not sure which aircraft it was though but I think it went back out the same day!!!

I dread to think what it was like when the doors opened, the smell after a long haul flight when you meet it is something to behold as it is! I think everyone got off pretty quickly that day haha

i feel sorry for that crew i work in a hospital and it is bad enough when you can walk away from something like that, I dread to think what that was like on a plane.
