I'd checked in online the day before, so was at the bag drop quickly, and had to pay $30 as I was checking in two bags.
And then to my bug bear of traveling within the USA... Security.... at first it started well. There was quite a queue and as we neared the front where they check your ID, one of my colleagues realised he couldn't find his boarding card which he'd had in his hand only moments before. After much searching of pockets and bags, a TSA agent came over to help and he wandered back up the queue and found it on the floor. He had a chat with us, asked where I was from, generally a nice guy. Hooray, thought I - a friendly agent! However - the agents manning the x-ray machines were their usual rude and brusque selves. Would it really be too much to say 'please' or 'thank you' once in a while? (Personally - as I've got another four internal flights to do on this trip I need to learn how to deal with it, otherwise I'll explode at their lack of manners)
Anyway - I was selected to go through a body scanner, and then a quick pat down and we were through.
We chose to sit overlooking the runway behind the Starbucks and have a coffee before heading to the gate. It's quite a good terminal this (terminal C I think) for eating places and natural light - makes a difference.
Boarding was on time and quick, and we were soon all on board and on our way.
Seat pitch is excellent on Jet Blue, and as you can wear headphones for the entire flight and the seat back TV is always on, I was soon plugged in watching some funny 'real life' documentary about tow truck people who chase car crashes. got to love American TV!
Soft drinks orders were taken once we were in the air, and soon followed by complimentary snacks - cookies, crisps etc.
Arrived in Chicago, we were quickly on the stand and by the time we'd walked to the luggage carousel the bags were out.
We had an amusing moment as the Chicago office had organised our 'limo' at this end - and rather than a mini bus which had taken us seven blokes, luggage, tool boxes etc perfectly at the Boston end - a real stretched limo with blacked out windows turned up. trying to cram all of us and our luggage in was quite a performance in it's own right.
so from Boston hotel door to Chicago hotel door was a bit less than six hours - not bad at all.
And yet again, another good fight from jetblue.
