Last time I was in the CH there was a man at the concierge desk demanding that he and his partner should get escorted to the plane and introduced to the crew. When the concierge refused he started going on about how he and his partner were "very important". As he kept going on, the CH manager came over and just repeated what the concierge had said, that only people that meet certain criteria get the MAAS, the manager also pointed out that he was told this when he phoned up and demanded to be escorted from check in, and this was also refused. The man just said he and his partner were VIPs and should be treated as such but couldn't say how they were VIPs.
The conversation ended like all conversations do when a customer isn't getting their own way "I'm going to complain!"

I haven't seen Virgin give in in these situations. I don't understand why people act like this. v(

Good on VS for not giving in even though it would have been the easiest thing to do.

But absolutly shocking behaviour - what on earth did they get out of it other than trying to feel self important (oh and a feeling that they have been treated appallingly which they will bore their friends with for years)

Perhaps they should have been offered the option of a personal escort out of the terminal by a couple of security guards?

Great suggestion! I can't understand why most airlines don't ban customers who are repeatedly rude to their staff? (Apart for financial reasons obviously!)

As an Au I have taken my wife (AG) through on a separate booking, no problems with UC check in, the private security channel or the CH, didn't have any kids with us but can't believe that would be a problem.

Another thing that you may wish to consider is that even if you have completed OLCI, you may wish to pop across to ticketing night before/on the morning of the flight because sometimes they will be able to sell you a different ticket be it purchasing or using miles.

I have found this when asking at bag drop /check in & the staff say no but, if you pop across to tickiting they say yes.

Thanks R-P, sounds like I have a few avenues to pursue then! PE is the one class that I've never traveled before so I'm keen to give it a go just from a curiosity stanpoint (and even if it's still in the older LGW fleet seats...)

Older fleet seats or not, being in the bubble is one of the joys of flying IMHO. y)
