Hi again, I wonder if anyone else has been tracking early 2012 fares with both BA & VS for travel to Los Angeles and have noticed the amazing price hike over the past 10 days.

I may be being cynical but it seems to me the fare price has steadily increased to allow for the usual forthcoming sale, just before Christmas. That way they can reduce prices and make it look a good deal.

I want to book a couple of PE seats anytime before 18th March so I can get to Las Vegas to see a Celine Dion concert. However I am in no hurry so thought I'd be totally flexible to get the best deal. I started watching fares a few weeks ago and then noted the prices rising from £838 to £932 and now stand at £1149, this being the same 'K' fare in PE from LHR to Los Angeles for mid-week flights. I bet that in a few weeks time, the fare will be reduced in the so called sale back down to £838.

I've always booked flights in the December/January sale and felt happy with the deals but coz I've tracked the fare prices with interest this year, its amazing fare sales are not always what they seem :?. I remember this being mentioned on here not so long ago by a couple of 'Regulars'.

The current "low" fares are active until 21st December, so perhaps we'll see something on the 22nd December or shortly after.....!

It's all guesswork so nothing is confirmed. VS may end current fares on 21st Dec and wait until Jan to launch sale fares.

An imminent sale would certainly happen soon :)

There's a BA sale coming -- that seems to be known. VS will copy. I'm hoping to nab some Zs myself. :)

Yeah there's normally a sale towards end of Dec, hoping there will be one so I can grab a couple of Z's to NYC

Don't know if sale fares have been loaded already, but just done a dummy booking to NYC for May next year in Upper and it's coming up at £1,791.00. Was just around £2400 a few weeks ago.

It was £1,500 or so only yesterday in the limited sale ... having looked at these fares, they're better than normal, which is good, but nowhere near what I'd actually call a sale!

UC fares to LAX now £2300 which is less than they have been but SFO still £3200 (identical on BA site!)

Does this mean SFO route won't be in sale?

Guess will have to wait.

Yeah I saw the £1,500 fares in the recent sale, but kinda knew the price would b higher in for the next sale, which it is, though ithe current price is about £100 more than last Decembers sale price. I'll still grab. Couple of seats though as its a good enough discount for me :-)
