Where to sit in Upper

Hi Guys

New to V Flyer. I am booked to go to DXB in June on Upper. I have booked 16 and 17K by the bar? Are these the best seats in Upper? your expert advice welcome!

Hey - welcome to v-flyer.

If you want to get some rest, the most common suggestion would be to move forward in the cabin to avoid any noise that might come from the bar area. You can always walk down the cabin to the bar

To add to what Ryan has already said - and this is quite useful givern it is a night flight - I have always opted for the A Side (higher numbers) where you have the "wall" in front of you to provide a little more privacy

10/11/12A get the thumbs up from me too - not that keen on 2/3/4k - unless you know you're disembarking at the front, you'll be about the last of the UC pax off - plus you do sometimes get a few loiterers for the toilet in this area...

Same here. They're in the middle and far enough from the snooze zone (if any) so you don't disturb those sleeping and far enough from the bar/galley and restrooms that the activity around those areas don't disturb you.

We're flying on honeymoon on the 346 and have opted for 8G & 8K as this is where the 'wall' changes sides. Perfect if you're travelling with some one so neither of you have to lean over the others seat.

We read on here these are probably the best 'coupled' seats.

Congratulations on your nuptuals.

Don't forget that the rows don't align and that 8K is actually slightly behind 8G

Also 8G is the bassinette position so if that is needed you will be moved.

We've reserved 10 and 11A on VS023 in May, nice once y)

We've got 2A and 3D on the VS23, we wanted to be opposite each other rather than 'next to' each other and looking at the cabin pics it looks like these are good seats. Any opinions are always welcome.

I think that's unfair P. I certainly did notice a phase of this but recently much less so.

I don't worry if they are prepping drinks/meals. I just sit down on a bar stool and say "Hope you don't mind me sitting here". They have always been very accommodating and pleasant.

Well, to be honest - that "phase" has continued on every single one of my recent flights. That's SFO, PVG, HKG, LAX. All of them have had crew prepping (and I don't mean the odd corner of it used, I mean the entire space taken up) for food service.

Yesterday's PVG was no exception - to the point where I think the crew have got to a position where they treat it like an extension to the galley by default.

Martin - I get the point that if asked, they'll move. But the issue is - it puts the passenger in an uncomfortable position when wanting to make use of something that should be available. Who *likes* asking the train passenger if they'd mind moving their bag? Granted, they're unlikely to have a problem doing so, but it's still not as nice as when you see a free seat.

Beyond that, frankly - it just looks an utter mess. Hardly "first class service at business class prices" (as VS try to promote Upper)

Well thanks for the tips just switched sides to 16/17A just by the bar! If anyone wants to join me for a drink you know where I will be! Lol

It's all a matter of opinion, but 16/17A would be pretty much the last place I would want to sit on a night flight. Near the bar, near the loos, near the light and noise of the galley... Seats further forward in the cabin at least give you a better shot at some peace and quiet, and it's not like you are far from the bar if you need it.
