When booking through VH I have had full benefit of the FVC with car & room upgrades as well as the 10% off y) . Just ensure that your FVC number is on your booking and the benfits follow. As VH & VS are two separate companies there are no VS benefits for FVC members (as far as I am aware!) :D

I've had in the past a couple of nice extras in the way of room upgrades and breakfast as a FVC member (the enhanced benefits on offer are usually noted with the hotel details). Your FVC number should be in the reservation details but there's no harm confirming that it is when you check in at your hotel.

You will get no benefits from VS (or any other airlines) with a FVC number. TBH, most VS check-in staff won't even know what FVC is.

Even having a FVC number on a VH booking is almost worthless as there's very few benefits now been a FVC member.

Also worth pointing out that you now cannot add a FVC number onto any VH booking made online.

I wanted to book my hotel in NY through Virgin and get my 10% discount as a FVC member but to my surprise was told you cannot get the 10% discount on hotel room booking only :O. I asked Club when had this changed and was told in 2007 to which I told them I'd had 2 holidays with hotel only bookings and got te 10% discount and those holidays were in 2010 and 20110. i was told it must have been an error and I thought well I can understand 1 error but not 2!

Having been on many FVC specially arranged trips and knowing the girl I was dealing with I was very disappointed with her attitude. Anyways in the end I booked my hotel through another holiday website where I got my 5* hotel for £300 less and I also got a cashback deal. No problems with checkin.

One thing that irks is that if I had been going to Florida I would have gotten discount off my attractions but not the hotel if I'd booked it separately :? It was a better deal for me to book my flight with my airmiles as I was going UC. Can Virgin just get it into their heads that their members go to other wonderful places with them than just Florida and discounts should apply to everything otherwise what is the point to the Club.

If I'm booking a full holiday with Virgin I will use my FVC membership to get my discounts as no one does holidays, flights and rewards like Virgin, love them

Many thanks for the replies so far. I should have been clearer. I know I won't get any upgrades with VS I am wondering about room upgrades etc. The reason I am asking is that my next holiday to California will be the first as a FVC member and it says that I should be showing my card at check in to all the hotels that have the FVC logo in the brochure. But are they really going to have a clue as to what it is?

In the 10+ years I've been booking holidays with VH, I don't think I've ever had a room upgrade with a FVC card.

Also don't forget though that hotel room upgrades in the US can mean as little as the same room but on a higher floor.

As I said in my earlier post I've received numerous room upgrades as a FVC member (and I'm not talking about higher floor rooms).
Additional benefits for FVC members are clearly indicated in the VH brochures (and on the FVC website ) and vary hugely. The number of hotels offering any FVC benefits has also reduced considerably over the years, as have the benefits themselves.
My experience with hotel staff recognising the FVC card has been hit and miss so what I've tended to do is email the hotel prior to arrival, advise them I'm a FVC member and asking them to confirm the FVC benefits that have been advertised (if they indicate that they offer a FVC benefit). This generally seems to have worked.
