I checked on the "real" cost of our tickets today. £9880 return :0 My £1100 fees & taxes, 150k Avios and Amex 241 voucher make it a great "saving". Though it is not really a saving at all as I would never have flown First had I had to pay cash. There are hundreds of other things I would preferably spend £10k on. But for us it is a great treat, I am sure we will have a ball.

If you book hotels, ensure you book a refundable rate and it'll be easy to switch to a cheaper rate if the price comes down. Always sign up for the Players Club cards at the hotel you're staying at as every little helps if you do use slot machines or tables - the slots are better for comps as they're like a Boots card and just accumulate points every time you put money in the machine. Get a card each and have them linked so the points accumulate. On the tables you have to be betting about $25 a hand at Blackjack to even get rated. If you feel you've been using slots a lot and your points have racked up, pop to the Players club desk prior to checking out and ask if there is anything they can comp you with. Sometimes, they'll refund the room rate, or resort fees or take drinks/meals off your bill as long as you've billed them to your room.

Thanks Lynne. I shall have to set myself a gambling limit. I developed a nasty obsession with the push-penny machines as a kid when visiting the seaside amusements :D We don't want a repeat of that!!!

The NFR (National Final Rodeo) is to remain in Las Vegas until 2024 after a new 10 year deal was signed last January apparently.

Oh dear! I flew this route last year and I don't really want to rain on your parade but, BA First in my experience to LAS was nothing special
We had the World Wide Fleet crew but it didn't really blow my mind away as I expected it would.

On my return we had the mixed fleet which were more like VS.

I believe the cabin was the new First cabin that we had and I understand that it will not be so for future flights.

I concur. I was there last month, and although I live in Nashville and am well used to cowboys boots, Wrangler jeans and big hats, those guys were a lot of fun to hang around with.

Yes I think the rodeo cowboys will add an interesting dimesnsion to our visit! I have put my name down for tickets when they are released :D Should be an experience. I shall have to brush up on my lasoo skills!

I remember your TR for your LAS flight HL It was a shame it did not meet your expectations, but overall they seemed good. But as with any flight, whatever cabin, whoever the fleet, the individual crew can make a big difference and it is pot luck who you get. But I am optimistic we will have a great trip- as with most things in life, it is what you make it. I am not expecting Nirvana! It is still a plane ride across the pond :)

All BA First flights are new First now. The few remaining old First cabins are only being used as Club World currently (which is why First is currently removed from some BA flights) and all of these will be replaced by October 2015, hence the return of First class to LAS.

This is currently a MF route, but the differences between MF and WW have narrowed a lot.

On the 747 1A/K are slightly smaller space wise due to the curvature of the nose, but if they have not been selected by a gold card holder, they are released at around the T-72hrs mark. They are a fantastic couple of seats for a couple, we had these on our first First to JFK.
