Received an email yesterday saying that VS7 has now been cancelled and I've been rebooked on VS23 leaving an hour later! That's too tight for my internal US transfer now and my seat reservation has disappeared Plus I cannot view the seat map to rebook them!
Its still a 346 to so all in all, not happy ?|

If your US domestic connection is on the same PNR you're protected and should be put on the next available flight. Even if it's not and you miss your booked flight there's a chance they'll rebook you - US airlines are often quite good like that.

Hearing that the 787 will be training in Manchester tomorrow, can anyone confirm this?
Maybe it will be the 'WHO'

Ok well I guess it did turn up after all, don't suppose anyone can post prior details on these training missions?

Cheers

There have been a lot of training flights since the 787's started being delivered last November. Most tend to be a total of 6 'flights' between Heathrow, East Midlands and Prestwick, however MAN/LGW are sometimes used also.

Yes. It started about 2 days ago.

Can't wait to fly PEY on the 26th back to the UK!

Hey all

Does anyone (I am sure you do!) know how many of these little beauties are with VS now and on routes, and if so what routes these are operating on..?

Also, how many are VS ordering..?

Hi

There are 6 in service, with 10 more on order.

No 7 is due in service later this month.

currently they work the 7/8 250/251 206/207 300/301 rotations and often the VS1/2

Thanks RLF

Appreciate it - will be great when the fleet is made up of these and the new Airbus A350's... Although, as others have said the fleet is very young compared to so many others out there!

I am however very surprised that they are not operating on the JFK routes... I understand that the longest haul flights will yield the biggest savings per flight (especially as these are designed to offer the airline a cost saving on fuel). But surely the volume that the JFK routes have (or the NYC routes) cross referenced against revenue to the business it would be a better move to have these operating on these routes ..?

From what I know (which is enough to make dangerous comments but no where near enough to be accurate!) these are the 'bread and butter' for VS - so the best planes on these routes would make sense, would they not? It would offer operational savings and have the newest and best metal for the customers who spend the most?

Are there any plans for VS to do this..?

It may be that the NYC routes have more Upper Class demand. The 787 has fewer UC seats (and fewer total seats) than the rest of the LHR fleet.

Currently at 43.000ft just approaching the North Wales coast.

I wonder whether VS will be doing anything special to name this aircraft with the families before it enters service...?

So I just had my first venture on the 787, back from SFO.

Now I don't know if this is coincidence or if there's something to it, but I have never ever felt this fresh off west coast flight, in fact any flight from the USA back to the UK...pretty much zero jet lag, fresh as a daisy. I got my usual 4-5 hours of sleep, so nothing changed in that regards . Quite astonishing and exciting.

I remember reading all the potential positive effects of the 787 and thinking it was just a load of tosh... I'll wait until my second go on it until I fully sing its praises, and hope this wasn't a fluke or placebo effect. I've read similar praises, but also a lot of people who claim it has no effect....Perhaps it works better for some than others.

Anybody else had a similar experience ?
