Finally got round to the promised (first ever) TR. we stayed at the Premier Inn North Terminal the night before. Food in the restaurant good, but service terrible!! In the morning we headed across to the South terminal on the monorail and there was only one person in front of us in our queue at bag drop. I'd already secured SEQ1 which started my holiday off well, and the good mood continued through bag drop, security and into the v room. Excellent service all round. I mentioned that I had v room and understood this gave me premium security access, and I wasn't made to feel like I was a nuisance. Straight through security (well I was - my husband and mum were both stopped and had to go through the body scanner!!!!) and a quick look round the shops before heading to the v room.

Once there, there was only one group in front of us who hadn't pre booked and wanted to pay, but they were informed that it was fully booked. We walked in and it was perfect. Not overcrowded and a couple of empty tables. Food was excellent and the view was great. I'm not the best at flying even though I have flown for years, so it seems to calm me down (that and the vodka!!). My mum has never used the v room before but was very impressed.

We left at the first call and by the time we got there the flight was already boarding. I had booked the exit seats in the bubble and they only found out when we got upstairs. My husband is 6"2 so he was happy - to the extent he fell asleep as we were taxiing and he slept through take off and the firs 1.5 hours of the flight only to be woken up when the food was served. I had the Beef Burgundy which was quite edible and the others had Spanish style chicken. The CC were attentive and fantastic all the way through. My mum is a Virgin Virgin and can now see why I won't fly anyone else if there is a virgin flight on offer. At one point we were all watching The Imitation Game. If you've not seen it, it's worth watching. We all took our headphones off at the end and went wow!!!

The only downside to the flight was the Captain making an announcement to a group of idiots downstairs who were drinking their own alcohol and being abusive to the CC. The captain warned that he would have no hesitation in getting the Mexican police to meet the flight, or diverting to the nearest airport (which we later discovered would be Miami). Then just over 3 hours before landing all alcohol was withdrawn!! Amazing how one group of idiots can spoil it for many. Fair play to the Captain - the tone of the announcement was "I am not messing" and he went down to check the situation as well, whilst ensuring crew and passengers were safe.

Great landing, and I'm so glad I read the reviews about Cancun airport before we left. 2 of our 3 cases were 2nd and 3rd to last coming off, and there were 3 U.S. flights on the same conveyor belt so by the time we got to the "funnel" for customs it was a long wait.

The return flight wa s a different story so I'll try and get that TR posted today.
Thanks for your patience reading this.

Well done on your first trip report you said everything that was needed for a full rounded report. yes there some idiots around as in life, glad you got the exit seats as my hubby is the same height as yours and I am 5ft 10in so we try and get premium at least money permitting.

Just watched the Virgin787 being built and kitted out looks fantastic so wonder if we will ever get a flight on that, heres's hoping. Looking forward to your return trip report, many thanks. Linda

Thanks for a very engrossing inaugural TR.

Your enjoyment of the V Room shone through loud and clear and it is good that you were able to confirm that people were turned away who had not pre-booke.

Not a nice experience when a group on board decides to play silly persons >-(

Thanks once again
