I did an Ex-DUB this summer and it was fab - I actually took all of the flights and visited friends in Dublin on the way home, but want to take advantage again next summer and am struggling to get anything to recreate flights I've found on ITA. While I know there's inventory caching etc at play and the exact flights aren't always available just because you can see them for that price on ITA, it's the combinations that are tripping me up. ITA has given me this itinerary for £1,217.77:
O/B
Dublin (DUB) to London (LHR) — Mon, Jul 18
British Airways 831, Dep: 7:45 am - Arr: 9:05 am Business (I)
London (LHR) to Los Angeles (LAX) — Mon, Jul 18
Virgin Atlantic 23, Dep: 1:05 pm - Arr: 4:35 pm Business (Z)
Return
Los Angeles (LAX) to London (LHR) — Thu, Jul 28
Virgin Atlantic 8, Dep: 5:50 pm - Arr: 12:20 pm Business (Z)
London (LHR) to Dublin (DUB) — Sat, Jul 30
British Airways 828, Dep: 9:35 am - Arr: 10:55 am Business (I)
Expedia is giving me nothing close to the price, but using Hipmunk I've managed to get it within £50 or so which then goes off to Expedia to book. However if I search it as a straight return, I'm able to select the outbound flights I want (actually an Aer Lingus flight out of Dublin but arrives at the same time as the BA so it'll do!) but can't push my final flight back to Dublin into Saturday to guarantee I can collect my bags. If I do it as multi-city, it will only give me an outbound flight with around a 2 hour connection at Heathrow which obviously isn't anywhere near enough time in the CH ;)
Is there a reason why searching round trip vs multi-city would give me different availability outbound?
